The client wanted a home design that represented Costa Rica and blended into their jungle setting – A Modern Day Jungle Rancho.
Architectural floor plans and elevation renderings for the Bohorica Private Estate just outside of Dominical were created by our native resident architect and engineer in Costa Rica, Ovidio Rodriguez. After consulting with the client in the United States and taking on site soil samples and observations of the natural flow of the landscape, the general layout, material choices and elevation plans have been approved by the customer.
The lot and building site is covered in a lush jungle canopy that creates moisture. To create a home that blended in and coexisted with the jungle, site planning and building materials had to be carefully chosen.
Foundation:
The foundation will be built up 36" to allow air flow underneath. The area below below the foundation will be raised and treated for subterranean insects.
Floors and Walls:
The floors and walls will be constructed of solid concrete for best durability and ease of maintenance.
Roof Trusses, Beams, and External Columns
Roof Trusses, Beams, and External Columns will be made of native Bamboo that is locally grown. Maintained and treated properly, the bamboo can last a lifetime.
